Spitalfields

Spitalfields

Ottolenghi Spitalfields can be found tucked down a narrow Georgian passageway, but despite appearances, it is our largest Ottolenghi location, full of bustle and atmosphere, comprising of a dining room, cocktail bar, and deli for take away.

Guests can dine in for breakfast, lunch or dinner in our main restaurant or at the bar, to take in the cocktail-making action.

No visit is complete without a stop by our shop, for Ottolenghi products, cookbooks and gifts, as well as the all important pastry display, for something sweet to eat in or take home. For our catering service, please contact Mary who will be delighted to help you, whatever the occasion: lunch for your work meeting, canapés and nibbles for your cocktail party or supper to take home

Meet our team - Rui Lopes

Rui has been a dedicated member of the Ottolenghi Spitalfields team for three years now, working his way up from server to supervisor and has just started as a shift manager. Quite the journey!

He was born and raised in Sao Miguel, an island from the Azores, Portugal, in a small country style village where nature was always a big part of his life: farming was prominent in the area and the sea was always near. In 2012, after graduating in Cultural Production in Caldas da Rainha, he took the leap to move to London. Rui has always been linked with hospitality, whether it was working at the local bar in his village or working with Jose Pizarro in London. A friend recommended that he applied to work at Ottolenghi, and just like that, he became part of the family!

Travelling has always given him great happiness and inspiration, but since we can't travel for the time being - reading will do. He loves to volunteer in the Ottolenghi Garden, reminiscing on picking fresh food in his back garden with his father, and finds great pleasure in the humble act of making something delicious from scratch.

One day in the future, he hopes to open a wine bar in London or Lisbon, which sounds pretty exciting to us!
