Sale price £4.70 Regular price

Urfa Chilli (also known as Urfa Biber) is a slightly sweet, slightly smokey, deep maroon Turkish chilli pepper sold in flakes. It’s perfect as a seasoning on a variety of dishes, but is traditionally used on lamb or sauteed with tomatoes and eggplant.

The Urfa Chilli's distinct taste comes from its unique drying process.  Peppers are sun-dried during the day and wrapped tightly at night, allowing them to develop their characteristic flavour and deep colour.

Uses for Urfa chilli flakes

Whilst Urfa can be substituted with Aleppo Chilli, Urfa gives a smokier and deeper flavour. Popular Ottolenghi recipes include our BBQ Beef short ribs, our signature Hot Charred Cherry Tomatoes and our Coronation cauliflower. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

Other popular dishes which use Urfa chillis include lamb recipes, meatballs, kebabs and adding a depth of flavour to smokey dishes such as baba ganoush or muhammara.
