Maggi-maple pretzel and nut beer snacks

That maple-Maggi glaze creates a sweet-savoury coating that's impossible to stop eating. The sauce is brilliant on everything - try it tossed with chicken wings or drizzled over roasted sweet potato wedges.

Ingredients

85g unsalted butter
1 tbsp Maggi liquid seasoning
1 tbsp maple syrup
45ml hot sauce (We used Cholula)
½ tsp garlic granules
1 tsp onion granules
300g nuts (we used a mix of pecans, cashews and skin-on almonds)
1 tbsp white sesame seeds
2 soft pretzels, sliced into 3mm thick slices (100g) (you can also use bagels, but cut each slice in two)

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 130C and line a large baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Place the first 6 ingredients in a medium saucepan on medium heat and stir until the butter is completely melted. Stir in the nuts and sesame seeds until well coated, followed by the pretzels. (We mix in the pretzels last so that they don’t soak up all of the butter mixture.)
  3. Arrange on the tray and roast for 1 hour, stirring the mixture every 20 minutes.
  4. Remove from the oven, allow to cool completely, then serve.
