Apprenticeships and Internships

Apprenticeships and Internships

We run a growing apprenticeship programme with Westminster Kingsway College, offering structured adult learning. As an apprentice you will be allocated a mentor as well as practical guidance and a work contract. The programme is a fantastic development opportunity open to existing team members and new starters.

The apprenticeship programme is 15 months long, with 1 day at college and 3-4 days in the kitchen. Apprentices can train to become Commis Chefs or Chef de Parties. They must have the right to work in the UK.

We also offer paid internships, both on the floor and in our kitchens. Over the years, we have had many interns who have stayed with us to become full-time colleagues. Internship applications are evaluated on a case by case basis and applicants, again, must have the right to work in the UK.

Joe Mills, Apprentice Commis Chef at Ottolenghi Islington

"I am currently an Apprentice Commis Chef at Ottolenghi Islington. I started in November 2022 because I wanted to gain experience and build a career I was passionate about. I was inspired by Ottolenghi’s workplace culture, where pride is taken in food and the team look after one another, as well as the huge collection of Ottolenghi books! So far, the apprenticeship has given me so much knowledge and invaluable experience."

Agata Tomczack, Chef de Partie at NOPI

"I did a 2 month internship at NOPI in 2021. The team’s passion and experience inspired me to apply for a masters in culinary innovation management at Le Cordon Bleu. Once completed, I returned to Ottolenghi as a permanent Chef de Partie! One day, my plan is to open my own restaurant where people love to come, try and share the beautiful food with each other and simply have the best time."
