The selection of 3 wines are by favourite winemakers at NOPI. They have all made appearances on our wine lists over the years with us pouring different selections and cuvees. Below are the current releases from all three talented and dedicated winemakers.

Ageno, La Stoppa, Emilia Romagna, Italy, 2016

The quintessential skin contact wine. Each vintage of Ageno only gets released when Elena, who owns La Stioos, is happy with it. 2016 is a particularly spectacular vintage- expressive, elegant and precise.

La Stoppa follows biodynamic practices  and is run by Elena Pantaleoni who took the reins two decades after her family purchased the land in the seventies. Many of the old vines (all traditionally Bordeaux varieties planted by the previous owner) have been replaced with local varieties such as Malvasia di Candia Aromatica, Barbera and Bonarda. Elena’s commitment to natural production, minimal work in the cellar, and showcasing the excellent terroir yield wines of character, freshness, and style.

Tradizionale, Vernaccia di San Gimignano, Montenidoli, Tuscany Italy, 2019

Elisabetta Fagiuoli is the living metaphor of her land, and she greets you, as the land welcomes you, with a smile that testifies to her joy in extending you hospitality. She shares with you her vision of the world with a quiet strength and elegance. Montenidoli’s grapes are organically grown and, for fifty years, no herbicide, insecticides or any other chemicals have been used. T

Vernaccia Tradizionale are pressed and following the old tradition the must macerates at length with the skins and is pressed as soon as the fermentation begins, to extract the flavour of the terroir. It’s a straw yellow tending towards gold, with herbal and almond perfumes, rich flavours, and a dry, crisp aftertaste.

Rackham, Laurent Cazotte, Gaillac, France, 2020

A lovely, rustic Jurancon Noir from Gaillac. Bright purple, full of vibrant flavours reminiscent of Gamay, with bold cherries & violet. The wine is organic, unfiltered and unfined.

Laurent Cazottes is an artisan distiller based in Villeneuve Sur Vere, Gaillac. As well as making a variety of amazing eaux-de-vies, liqueurs and aperitifs, he also makes a pair of wines from indigenous Gaillacoise grape varieties. These wines are certified organic, made with wild yeast fermentation, and are unfiltered and unfined. They are authentic, easy drinking and refreshing natural wines with great character and purity
